After joining the Broadway cast of Spring Awakening a few months ago, Canadian singer Kyle Riabko has been tapped to lead the national tour cast in the lead role of Malchior Gabor.
His track Do You Right has actually been in my music rotation for a while now, after iTunes offered it as a free track of the week once upon a time. I'm happy to see that he's still at it, and that new audiences are being treated to his tunes.

Xanadu, too gay? No way! That aside, watch this video for a funny take on life backstage at a broadway show with Cheyenne Jackson and the Xanadu cast. I've worked backstage in theater before (with Cheyenne!) -- while it isn't quite like THIS, you are spending the evening working with people in all states of undress backstage.
...why did I quit, again?

I call my interest in Mario Lopez a healthy facination. My partner Doug might say that it's more like a disturbing preoccupation. (He just doesn't understand the bond between Mario and me.)
While he's remained in the nation's view since he bared all in Nip/Tuck and shook what he showed in Dancing with the Stars, the latest news out of the Lopez camp is his current run in A Chorus Line on Broadway. He joins the show in the role of Zach, a director looking to cast some of the hopeful dancers while prodding them into introspection about the life of chorus dancers.
Die-hard A Chorus Line fans may be unsure of the changes to the show allowing Mario to have a bit more time onstage (Zach spends the majority of the show as a disembodied voice, watching the auditioners from his desk at the back of the theater), but we've seen in his Dancing with the Stars appearance that he'll be able to keep up with the rest of the performers in the cast.
Corrospondents Josh & Josh had the opportunity to interview Mario for episode two of Towleroad TV, which has just been posted at Towleroad. Mario talks about his gay fanbase, joining the show, his fitness book, and the fact that they didn't have to photoshop the cover!

Reader Alicia sent us an e-mail wondering when Joey Vaughn Adams would be gracing our pages. Well, Alicia -- wait no longer! Joey is an actor, model, and musician who has been seen on television (Numb3rs, All My Children, Welcome Freshmen) as well as onstage. He's got this fantastic boyish charm, and a smile that would power my house if I could harness the energy from it. (That's a good thing, Joey! Green power is in these days.)
Thanks for sending us the photos, Alicia -- if you have some great photos to share, send them our way! Get in touch with us for the low-down on where to send the carrier pigeon.

Hunk du Jour favorite Cheyenne Jackson was interviewed by Two Gay Guys -- Michael and Brent from AfterElton.com about working on Xanadu: The Musical.
After what could have only been a tumultuous period of tech and previews, the broadway version of Xanadu opens tonight with bona fide hunk (and sweetheart) Cheyenne Jackson taking on the role of Sonny. While Cheyenne played the role opposite Jane Krakowski during the workshop process of the show, he's returned to the production since James Carpinello was injured and unable to perform.
Break a leg tonight, Cheyenne... just not literally.
UPDATE: I meant to provide some links to the other coverage and interviews Cheyenne has done regarding Xanadu and being an actor and such... check these out!
Last weekend Broadway Bares XVII raised an amazing $743,787 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
There were over 5,500 tickets sold to the two performances, with nearly 250 participants in the show! Not pictured: the 10 nearly-naked waiters working in the VIP section. How do we get in THERE?
The evening was capped off with a donation from M·A·C AIDS Fund of $115,000!
The first Broadway Bares performance (if you could even call it that) back in 1991 raised $8,000. Jerry Mitchell and six friends basically stripped at a bar in Chelsea for charity. Since then, the annual even has brought in a total of $4.8 MILLION DOLLARS for BC/EFA and their supported organizations.
This event is a major fundraiser for them, and if you feel guilty at all about viewing photos from the event without attending then you should definitely donate to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Oasis Magazine is a web publication that's been around for quite a while now. Nearly a decade ago I did my first real online writing there -- nothing about my articles were particularly earth shattering, but it provided a snapshot into my life for my future-self and for other gay youth in the world.
Today Oasis is still going very strong and my friend, site owner Jeff Walsh, now nourishes a community of queer youth writers while contributing feature pieces and interviews of his own.
A little while ago he told me that he'd be interviewing one of my favorite performers from our recent New York trip, Howie Michael Smith. Jeff was so sweet, he offered to throw in a few random hunk questions for us -- I immediately accepted his offer.
Check out Howie's responses to our questions below, and read the entire article at Oasis Magazine to hear about the life of a broadway actor as well as his experience coming out.

With the love and support of your family, friends, and fans -- where do you hope to be in 5 years?
Just continuing to be an entertainer and acting, doing projects that I love. That's the most important thing, doing projects that make me happy.
Thanks, Howie... and thanks so much Jeff for passing our questions along!
Perhaps you know him from his stage career (Threepenny Opera, Cabaret), or films (including X-Men), or racy cologne campaign (see image after the jump.) We're happy to congratulate Alan Cumming on his marriage to partner Grant Shaffer.

While in New York City last week, we made a point of seeing Avenue Q where the delicious Howie Michael Smith now plays the role of Rod/Princeton. It was a fantastic show, and I think both Doug & I walked away with little Howie crushes.
