Colombian musician Juanes got the attention of even more of the world this week with an announcement that there had been 6 million pre-launch online sales of his latest album, "La Vida es un Ratico" ("Life is Just a Moment") -- possibly a record number!
Juanes has been getting more and more attention worldwide these days, and his music has a lot of crossover appeal -- even though he refuses to record English translations of his songs. One of his remarks about this is that Spanish-speaking people have been listening to English music for years, often not understanding the lyrics but still enjoying the music. I know I'm liking what I hear, and will have to check out the new album very soon!
Juanes also got my attention earlier this month while in Puerto Vallarta, smoldering on the copy of People en Espanol that we picked up in the lobby. I can't really understand what the cover says, but I think it is about his reconciliation with his wife (whom he also has two daughters with.)
