There's a great "is he or isn't he" thread on IMDB. I think the evidence supports that he probably is.

They point out that he has pretty consistently plays gay characters (the gay priest in the play LAYING OF HANDS, the bisexual "Real World"-er on OFF CENTRE --where he actually says "Taste My Bisexual Fury!" no joke--and the probably gay Adam on "24").

Then there's this amazing quote from an interview he did with Six Degrees Magazine: "Well, Ugg boots came and went, thank the sweet Lord....I’m kind of over skinny jeans. They seem to be all the rage right now, and I could do without those."

If he's gay, he seems fairly "out" and that's hot to me, and if he's straight and this is how he rolls, then he's even HOTTER to me due to his unattainability :-( Either way, he's going places.

Well, he is not gay! He's been in a relationship with this girl until 2006 and now he's single.

And even though some people tend to think he is, despite the fact he was with girls before, and say maybe he doesn't want to come out or something, i think it's not because he was very open towards the gay parts he had to play, and stylish and all, that he is gay, see what i mean. I'm sorry to those who desperately don't want him to be gay, but... I just so happen to be in a long-term relationship with someone Zach went to high school with (Central Catholic Hish School, in Pittsburgh. I've seen the yearbook pictures, so I'm not making this up). And my partner tells me that Zachary was, and is, beyond ANY shadow of a doubt, gay. He and Zach got along okay, but apparently Zach could be rather rude to others (He had somewhat of an ego, I understand). My partner and I are also friends with someone who went to CMU (Carnegie Mellon University), who was in the Theatre Arts department (She was a technical theater major, while Zach was an acting major), and she has told us in the past that although Zach didn't go out of his way to flaunt it or publicize it, it was very commonly known around campus that he was gay and dated several guys. If Zach is publicly being seen with a girl right now, it is most likely to throw the press off the scent, especially since he's been thrust into such an intense spotlight as having been cast as Spock in the STAR TREK remake. I'm sure he knew the scrutiny he'd receive and is understandably trying to maintain a low profile as far as his personal life is concerned.

NONE of you are his close personal friends, and therefore have no real knowledge of his personal life. I'm not jumping up and down saying that I know more about him, but I do know that people deserve their privacy, especially celebrities.

These threads always amuse and annoy... What we do know is that Zachary is attractive and talented.

We'll also enter a gentle reminder -- the anonymous pool of blog commenting is rife with gossip and misinformation. There's always the mythical "friend of a friend" reference.

My position is this -- if someone is gay and wants the world to know, they'll make it happen. (There are probably hotlines set up at a few magazine for just such a case.)

I too am a member of the SArmy and i totally agree with roxrsoxof. His talent has nothing to do with his sexuality and it doesnt take a genious to act gay! (not slating zach's acting, he's amazing) but does it really matter whether he is gay or not, as long as he is happy!

I know many guys who have been to the club G-A-Y in London and none of them are gay, they go for the scene...the music...and anyway, arent most homosexuals generally nicer than Heterosexuals..hence no bar fights in gay clubs!

You should all seriously get a life and stop questioning his sexuality. When or IF he wants to publicise his sexuality, he'll do it in his own time...not that he needs to, its his own personal life, so none of our business to be honest!
