[Ed: As reader Martha points out, I got... well, ALL the facts pretty much wrong. I'll still leave this up though, as my offer to David still stands!]
David Beckham is looking for work, after being let go from his football club in England.
David... you can crash with us in Seattle if you need a job. We think that life as our houseboy would be very happy for you.
Love,
Chris & Doug from Hunk du Jour

Pedantic soccer fan here. Beckham was left out of the national team, but he still has a job -- he plays for Real Madrid, in Spain. The whole national thing team is really just a bonus, it's got nothing to do with their normal, everyday teams/jobs.

Don't listen to Martha, Becks... your time is up, you best just take up our offer! ;)
So does he get to be eligible for the national team because of his nationality, even though he plays for Madrid?

Exactly! National team is (loosely) based on your heritage -- where you, your parents, whatever, were born, or where you've established citizenship/residency. For example: Owen Hargreaves, who plays for England, could have played for Canada (where he was born and grew up), England (where his parents were born), or Germany (where he moved to play as a little kid). I'm just embarrassing myself here, aren't I?
