Today the Washington State supreme court upheld the Defense of Marriage Act in Washington. This act describes marriage as specifically between one man and one woman.
My partner Douglas and I have been in a loving and committed relationship for over 5 years. While Hunk du Jour will be back tomorrow, our right of equality will still be absent.

It is sad to read that equal rights for gays, lesbians and transsexuals suffered another loss in the United States. But I am still convinced that in the end the case for legal equality and the fight for the right to love without discrimination will prevail.
All the best from Europe.

Thanks, Jan -- I can't figure out this world that those opposed to gay marriage live in.
They spew this hatred about how gay people are sex-crazed and do nothing but party and sleep around -- but then they keep us away from an institution that promotes stability, settling down, and monogamy... I don't get it!

The fight of equality has just gotten started! We are pressing on steadfastly, and I do believe that over time America will be on our side.
Congrats on your five-year anniversary. Best wishes for many more years to come!

The problem is that the US is comprised of a lot of people who cling to archaic mores and call them "traditional values" like that's a good thing. I think if we had any common sense, we'd all move to a country that wasn't so opposed to social evolution, Canada would be good.
