Hunk du Jour

COVERguy Season 1

Canadian network OutTV is gearing up for the 2nd season of COVERguy, one of those "guilty pleasure" tv shows featuring boys willing to strut their stuff and take it off for a chance at a cash prize and modeling opportunity. I liken it to watching the power-team of Strip Search and Kept on VH1 a while back.

The program is hosted by Canada's first openly gay reality star Mathieu Chantelois -- who has also enjoyed success that includes appearing on the cover of Tom Bianchi’s most recent art book, the gay bestseller On the Couch 2. Last year's winner, Daniel Mazonne did well after the show -- signing with Elite Models Modeling Agency.

Reality TV producers, please feel free to keep these competitions coming -- great TV!

Ten more photos from Season 1 can be found here, stay tuned for more information about the series as it continues!

Thanks for this, Chris. It's really a shame most Canadian queers can't actually see this show.

Despite a CRTC (like the American FCC, but with less power to it) ruling to include OutTV in second-tier cable packages, after an initial success in having a separate (and higher) fee for it squashed, OutTV has been systematically excluded by most cable providers and is often only available on digital. And when we go all digital along with the U.S. next year, it's not going to become any more easily accessed as people will deliberately have to choose a packaging that includes it, which means a large number of households with younger queers won't get it either due to simple economics and/or parental censorship. :-(

It would have been nice if cable providers had been forced to comply with the rulings and law as written rather than be given the chance to appeal and exclude things based on an imaginary sense of some of the viewing public's supposed sensitivities. I mean, c'mon people: if you don't want to watch, flip to another channel.

Anyway, down off the soap box now and back to ogling the pictures of hotties posted on your website. ;-)
