Chris M is the original guy behind HunkDuJour.com. A gay man born-raised-and-living in Seattle, Chris spends his nights curled up on the couch with his partner Doug, who is also a contributor at Hunk du Jour. They have been together since May 2001 and purchased a townhouse together in West Seattle in the summer of 2005.

Chris is a web developer with a software development firm in the shipping industry. Previously Chris owned his own Web Development and Hosting company, stage managed and worked as backstage crew for local theatres, stayed up late as a casino dealer, served coffee at fantastic coffeehouses, unloaded freight in the early morning, and filled reservations at one of the most sought-after restaurants in the Puget Sound.

Chris is also an amateur photographer, taking fantastic photos with his point-and-shoot digital camera. He features galleries of his photos both on HunkDuJour.com and his flickr account. His vices include Dick's Drive-In Restaurants cheeseburgers and chocolate shakes.

In what little free time remains Chris supports the LifeLong AIDS Alliance at Gay Bingo and as a team leader for the annual AIDS Walk, enjoys seeing plays and shows, and is the organizer of semi-regularly-scheduled happy hour excursions.

Chris is an INFJ personality type, and his Mom thinks he's smart.

I arrived at Hunk du Jour World Headquarters to find the place empty! Oh yeah -- we don't get the first day of the year off, we get the first work day of the year off. My accounting firm (Dewey, Cheetum, and Howe) is even closed.

Unfortunately this means I won't be receiving the sealed envelope with the Hunk of the Month from December 2005 today -- it also means that I'll be unable to make a cup of coffee... (we just HAD to drop the extra cash for the espresso-machine-with-barista, didn't we?)

In the meantime I'll see if I can't rifle through some of the worker bees' desks and find an article or two that has been languishing in the editorial tree. Hey, if anyone knows where the power switch is for this copier let me know... Happy New Year!

Christopher Sieber's broadway credits include Spamalot, Chicago, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Into the Woods and Triumph of Love. He's also appeared on a few TV shows, most recently as a gay dad on "It's All Relative." Mr. Sieber is gay and took the opportunity of this TV show to publicly come out... though, not really... he'd never actually been hiding anything before.

If you're a gay man playing a gay character on television, I think it's important to set an example. When I was growing up, I didn't have any role models. I think I had Snagglepuss. [Mimics the cartoon character's, lispy voice] "Exit, stage left!" And Richard Simmons. I knew I was gay, but if I had to be like Snagglepuss, I was terrified. When I finally admitted to myself that, yes, I was gay--and realized that I don't have to be [that way]--I was fine. I was comfortable.

Chris lives with his partner Kevin Burrows in New Jersey. According to broadway.com, he spends much of the year living on an island cabin in the middle of a lake -- which he commutes to via rowboat. I guess it's a great way to stay in shape... who needs the gym if you have to row to and from shore anytime you want to run out for a Krispy Kreme? [...I know what you're thinking -- just stop eating doughnuts, dumbass! Except it's new years -- I have resolutions on the brain. -Chris]

More photos after the jump!

Best of luck with the new career, Ivan!

Kicking off our Countdown to the Winter Olympics is none other than freestyle skiier Jeremy Bloom. He's modeled, been voted one of the Sexiest Men in Sports by Sports Illustrated For Women, but really is hoping for a career in the NFL... the NFL? He's linked to former reality Real World houseguest, Cameran Eubanks.

With athletes like Jeremy lining up their plane tickets to Torino -- it's going to be a great Olympic season!

A visitor writes:

hi chris, great website. i think both these features would be enhanced if you would make all the pics you put up for votes available for download after the votes are in, not just the ones that win. you would increase your web traffic and make it easier for people to access these pics. thanks and happy new year!

What a great question -- let's see how I do answering...

Matthew Morrison arrived on broadway appearing in the movie-turned-musical Footloose but really got attention as he starred in Hairspray (another movie-turned-musical) as the heartthrob Link Larkin. He's currently on broadway in A Light in the Piazza.

Two more photos after the jump.

Skier Bode Miller has had quite the bad-boy image and a general disdain for the media. In an interview with "60 Minutes" recently he spoke about skiing drunk and how difficult it was -- though that it wouldn't prevent him from doing it again. There was some definite sponsor and U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association lashback.

"To the people who I don't have any direct interaction with: fans, just people, parents who are trying to put all athletes up on a pedestal and show their kids what they're supposed to be like," Miller said. "Obviously, the message that came through was not something that I would promote or (what) I'm about in any aspect of my sporting career."

A skater since age 8, Evan Lysacek will be one to watch at the 2006 Olympic Games. He's somewhat superstitious about the upcoming games, too -- refusing to change his cell phone number when he moved to the west because of the last four digits... "2006".

Best of luck, Evan!

Thanks to the mysterious Who is Benjamin Stove? for the sponsorship this week. Click on Sponsor Hunk du Jour for information on how to sponsor this blog.

RSS Updates & Feed Images
I've updated our RSS Feeds (what is rss?) today to be less accident prone. The errors which were making some code appear should be all fixed up now. Also, our syndicated readers will be happy to know that you should start seeing IMAGES in the RSS feeds also. I've relaxed the security in that script so that you should see it. However, I'm keeping an eye out for abusers.

Suggestions
Do you have a hunk that you'd like to see featured on Hunk du Jour? How about a fantastic blog that I should be following? Comment here and let me know about it!

Speed skater Chad Hedrick will be another one to watch in the Olympics this winter!

In this month's issue of GQ Magazine you can find The Ten Most Hated Atheletes. Luckily we've poured over the list so you don't have to -- here's the run-down:

10. Lleyton Hewitt, Tennis
9. A.J. Pierzynski, Baseball
8. Phil Mickelson, Golf
7. Bonzi Wells, Basketball
6. Michael Iaconelli, Fishing
5. Kobe Bryant, Basketball
4. Curt Schilling, Baseball
3. Kurt Busch, NASCAR
2. Barry Bonds, Baseball
1. Terrell Owens, Football

I'm sorry, exactly how much of a jerk do you have to be to be a fisherman and make it into an article by GQ??

Thanks to Steve over at Penguin Food for the tip -- check out his site for some nice eyecandy.

Johnny Weir

Oh, Johnny... must you tempt me so! He's a 2004, 2005 and 2006 champion figure skater.

Well, I finally saw Brokeback Mountain yesterday with a couple friends. (Don't bother trying to take my gay card away -- I ran it through the washing machine in 2002 and haven't been the same since.) Even with the incredible hype surrounding the film I was able to go into it fairly open minded.

The film kinda crept up on me as far as emotional investment... I might have been a bit guarded at the beginning, but by the end I was aware of the weight of the story on me -- like I could feel the oppression and guarded emotion. Even thinking back on it now is kinda getting me to that place again...

Anyway, BEAUTIFUL film -- it will be definitely going on my wish list for my DVD collection.

Towleroad Brokeback Coverage

Last month we rolled out a BlogAds section in the upper-right corner of the site. It takes a little while for the sponsors to start rolling in, so to keep that space from lookin' all barren and lonely I'm giving away one free BlogAd on Hunk du Jour to the first two folks who contact me asking for one.

This would be a great place to promote your own blog, give your favorite celebrity hunk a shout-out, or tell the world exactly why you love Hunk du Jour so much!

I'll give you a discount code, and your message will stay on the site for up to one month.

Sorry -- I've now given away both invitation codes... best of luck next time!

Please get site badges from this new location.

BBC America is just starting to air season two of the British nighttime soap, Mile High, and I have to admit that we're kind of hooked. I don't know what it is about the brits, but they can pull off melodrama so much more convincingly than in US soaps!

The show follows the crews of Fresh Airlines through all of their ups and downs. You'll find plenty of brit-soap fare -- drama, sex, drugs, misunderstandings, power plays, betrayals, and lies! It's on cable, so they'll let a few curses slip through (most noticed in censorship is the F-Bomb) plus you'll get to see an ass every so often. (Plus I kinda dig the theme song.)

Check it out -- Mile High is on throughout the week on BBC America!

In sixth grade there was a focus on science & nature in education. So, along with the trip to Camp Seabeck there was the weekly episode of a PBS program called Voyage of the Mimi -- soon followed by The Second Voyage of the Mimi.

Little did we know when we were doing our worksheets and having discussions after the episode that up-and-coming star Ben Affleck was flexin' his acting chops right before our eyes! He seems to have turned out well, considering the unfortunate haircut when he was 12 years old... His second Mimi voyage was when he was 15.

Folks go totally ape-shit for Apolo Anton Ohno -- he's a Seattle native (go hawks!) Short Track Speed Skater. In the 2002 Salt Lake City games he became quite unpopular with South Korean skating fans, though. After finishing 2nd to a South Korean skater, that skater was then disqualified for interference. Over the next year increasing threats prevented him from attending a World Cup event in the country. It should be exciting to watch the event this year and see what results of this international rivalry!

Apolo will be joined by Shani Davis and Chad Hedrick -- this team is worth keeping an eye on!

NBCOlympics.com Profile: Apolo Anton Ohno

One thing I love about TiVo is that you can set up actor wish lists -- so my current fixation on Jake Gyllenhaal is rewarded with suprise recordings of Bubble Boy (which we totally saw in theaters, and where my partner Doug totally dibs'd Jake to my then-disbelief) and Donnie Darko... which we watched last night.

It's easy to see why this movie has achieved cult film status... it's so dark, and twisted, and mind-warping. Plus you have that freakin' bunny man (mental note: next viewing is to occur when there's enough time to watch another film before bed). This is definitely one that we'll have to get on DVD so we can get the full effect... without TV edits and Bravo commercial breaks (imagine Project Runway promos interspliced with the bunny man.) Even with the TV edits... Jake was kinda chilling when he'd get that smirk on his face.

Doug's been checking out the official movie site this morning, which seems equally dark and complex.

The Malcontent presents us with another edition of Survivor Gaydar Challenge, where he analyzes the chances of contestants being gay from nothing but their profiles.

Austin Carty is The Malcontent's pick for homo, a pretty boy model and author.

Aras Baskauskas is the Hunk du Jour pick for hottest possibility... plus he's rocked the faux-hawk, which can be kinda gay.

Take a look at his run-down and see who you think might be the undercover 'mo... there's always one of 'em, right?
